Biomaterials for use in dental care device applications

Evonik is a leading producer of biomaterials for dental care applications. Our metal-free VESTAKEEP® PEEK is a high-performance polymer that offers excellent biocompatibility and aesthetics for dental implants. It provides a combination of strength, durability, and comfort, making it an ideal solution for patients. Additionally, RESOMER® is a biodegradable polymer used in bone graft substitutes to support the growth of new bone in procedures such as dental implants. These materials provide excellent mechanical, chemical, and biocompatible properties, making them ideal for use in demanding medical applications. Evonik's next generation resorbable biomaterials provide guided bone and tissue regeneration properties, including our biosynthetic collagen VECOLLAN® platform.

Replacements for tooth stumps on top of inserted implants are called abutments. VESTAKEEP® PEEK is biocompatible for soft tissue and can be used for abutments as well as cervical gingiva formers.

The choice of material is important for dental abutments because it affects their strength, durability, and appearance. VESTAKEEP® PEEK is a high-performance polymer that offers several advantages for dental abutments. It is biocompatible, which means it is safe for use in the human body and does not cause adverse reactions. This makes it an ideal material for soft tissue applications, such as abutments and bar restorations.

In addition to its biocompatibility, VESTAKEEP® PEEK is also strong, durable, and lightweight. Another advantage of VESTAKEEP® PEEK is its versatility. It can be easily machined and customized to meet the specific needs of each patient, which allows for greater flexibility in the design and fabrication of dental abutments. VESTAKEEP® PEEK offers a combination of strength, durability and comfort.

Dental bone void fillers are materials used to fill gaps or cavities in the bones of the mouth, particularly in oral surgery and dentistry. These fillers help to stabilize and fix dental implants, and facilitate the growth of new bone tissue. They are made of biocompatible materials, such as calcium phosphate-based bone substitutes, which are safe for use in the body and can be absorbed over time.

RESOMER® biodegradable polymers for bone void fillers

Evonik offers a range of biomaterials that can be used for dental bone void fillers, including RESOMER®. RESOMER® is a biodegradable polymer that can be used to create scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. It is biocompatible, meaning it is safe for use in the body, and can be absorbed over time.

Evonik's RESOMER® is an ideal material for bone void fillers, dental membranes, and other applications that require bone regeneration. RESOMER® is available in a range of formulations and can be customized to meet specific requirements.

NANOCRYL® D nanoparticle modified acrylates

NANOCRYL® D products help to increase the service life of expensive dental prostheses by providing much higher filler content.

Bar restorations are removable restorations on the inserted implants in the jaw. Bar restorations based on VESTAKEEP® PEEK ensure removability without wear, no metal taste of the denture, light weight and minimal size for easy handling by the patient.

The choice of material is important for dental bar restorations because it affects their strength, durability, and overall performance.  It should also be strong and durable enough to withstand the forces of chewing and biting. Additionally, the material should be lightweight and easy to handle for the patient.

Evonik's VESTAKEEP® PEEK can be used for dental bar restorations due to its biocompatibility, strength, durability, and lightweight properties.

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic device used in dentistry to replace one or more missing teeth. It bridges a gap in the mouth by attaching to teeth on either side of the gap to restore grinded and missing teeth.

Bridges made of metal-free VESTAKEEP® PEEK are possible for large and small bridges. They are customizable with composite, vestibular veneering or full crowns based on PEEK in the posterior region. Additional advantages over metal include light weight and shock absorption.

Dental crowns cap or encircle a tooth or implant. Crowns can be individualized with composite materials, vestibular veneering or used as full crowns of PEEK for the posteriors.

VESTAKEEP® i4 G is used to fabricate temporary crowns and bridges. This high-performance polymer has excellent wear resistance and aesthetics, making it ideal for temporary restorations. Crowns can be individualized with composite materials, vestibular veneering or used as full crowns of PEEK for the posteriors. Furthermore, full crowns made of VESTAKEEP® PEEK provide shock absorption properties.

Dental membranes are thin materials used in dentistry to help regenerate lost bone and gum tissue. They are placed between soft tissue and bone to act as a physical barrier, preventing unwanted tissue from migrating into the area where regeneration is desired.

Dental membranes can be made of various materials, including synthetic polymers, natural collagen, or biologically-derived materials. They are used in various dental procedures, including implant dentistry, periodontal surgery, and ridge augmentation.

Dental membranes can be resorbable or non-resorbable, depending on the procedure and desired outcome. Evonik specializes in guided bone regeneration (GBR) membranes based on both RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers and non-animal collagen, VECOLLAN®. These membranes provide a barrier function during bone regeneration procedures, promoting optimal healing outcomes.

RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers for dental membranes

RESOMER® biodegradable polymers can be used in resorbable dental membranes. These materials are designed to break down over time and be absorbed by the body, eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove the membrane.

It is a biodegradable polymer that is used in bone graft substitutes, helping to support the growth of new bone in procedures such as dental implants and periodontal treatments. RESOMER® is an ideal material for bone void fillers, dental membranes, and other applications that require bone regeneration.

VECOLLAN® recombinant & non-animal derived collagen for dental membranes

VECOLLAN® membranes provide a barrier function during bone regeneration procedures, promoting optimal healing outcomes.

These membranes harness the power of non-animal collagen, sourced from recombinant technology. This cutting-edge approach not only ensures a sustainable and ethical supply of collagen but also provides a biomaterial that closely mimics the natural collagen found in the human body. As a result, VECOLLAN® membranes offer outstanding biocompatibility, reducing the risk of adverse reactions and promoting successful bone regeneration.

Dental putties are common dental impression materials used to make braces, models, and reconstructions. Evonik's biomaterials provide properties important in dental putties, such as biocompatibility, strength and stability.

A partial denture restores one or more of the natural teeth in combination with the existing teeth and the soft tissue. Partials dentures made of metal are heavy and have a metallic taste affecting the enjoyment of food. Partial dentures made of VESTAKEEP® PEEK are light and tasteless, have an extraordinary wear comfort and no sensation of cold.

The material used for partial dentures is important because it affects the durability, comfort, and aesthetics of the denture. The material should be strong enough to withstand the forces of chewing, yet lightweight and comfortable for the wearer. It should also be biocompatible, meaning it does not cause any adverse reactions in the mouth.

VESTAKEEP® PEEK is used for partial dentures. It is tasteless and odorless, making it a good choice for patients who are sensitive to the taste of metal or plastic. VESTAKEEP® PEEK partial dentures are also thinner and more comfortable than metal or acrylic resin dentures. VESTAKEEP® PEEK offers a combination of strength, durability and comfort.

Dental implants are prostheses that are used to replace missing teeth. They are designed to interface with the bone of the jaw or skull to support a dental prosthesis such as a crown, bridge, denture, or facial prosthesis or to act as an orthodontic anchor.
