Aesthetic dermatology

Innovative solutions for aesthetic dermatology applications

At Evonik, we offer a comprehensive range of biomaterials for aesthetic dermatology applications. Our expertise in biomaterials has allowed us to develop innovative solutions for barbed sutures, cosmetic implants, dermal fillers, and skin adhesives. For instance, RESOMER® is suitable for use in aesthetic demtology applications due to its resorbable and biodegradable properties, alongside high quality and safety standards. Our products offer superior mechanical properties, and biocompatibility, making them ideal for use in aesthetic dermatology.

Dermal fillers are injectable materials that are used to fill in wrinkles, scars or hollow areas on the face or other parts of the body. Dermal fillers can also be used to augment lips, cheeks or chin.

RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers for dermal fillers

RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers can be used as temporary fillers that can provide a gradual and controlled result. They have a high water affinity that hydrates the skin.

VECOLLAN® recombinant & non-animal derived collagen hydrogels for dermal fillers

VECOLLAN® hydrogels are a type of non-animal-derived collagen that can be used in dermal fillers to enhance the appearance and function of the skin. They have a high water affinity that hydrates the skin and provides a soft and elastic feel. They can be tailored to match the desired shape, size, and degradation rate of the filler.

POLYMER VS SERIES FOR DERMAL FILLERS

Our POLYMER VS SERIES silicones are non-resorbable and permanent fillers that can provide a stable and long-lasting result. They have a soft and elastic feel that mimics natural tissue.

Barbed sutures are a type of knotless surgical suture that have barbs on their surface. These barbs penetrate the tissue and lock them in place, eliminating the need for knots. Barbed sutures are ideal for facial rejuvenation, lifting and contouring procedures, as they provide a secure and uniform closure of the wound, reduce the risk of infection and scarring, and enhance the aesthetic outcome.

POLYMER VS series for barbed sutures

Our POLYMER VS series are addition curing silicones that can be used to manufacture barbed sutures. These silicones offer excellent mechanical properties, such as tensile strength, elongation and tear resistance. They also have a low coefficient of friction, which facilitates the insertion and removal of the sutures. Moreover, they are biostable and resistant to degradation by body fluids and enzymes.

RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers for barbed sutures

Evonik's RESOMER® biomaterial can be used in barbed sutures and resorbed by the body to match target healing time. It has highly versatile mechanical properties to match specific application requirements.

VECOLLAN® recombinant & non-animal derived collagen for barbed sutures

Evonik's innovative biosynthetic collagen VECOLLAN® platform can be used for various medical applications. For instance, VECOLLAN® can be utilised to create barbed sutures that can lift and tighten sagging tissues.

Cosmetic implants are devices that are inserted into the body to enhance or restore certain features.

RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers for cosmetic implants

Our RESOMER® bioresorbable polymers are suitable for cosmetic implants, as they can be tailored to match the desired shape, size and degradation rate of the implant. These polymers have a high degree of biocompatibility and biodegradability. They also have a low inflammatory response and minimal foreign body reaction. Our RESOMER® polymers can be processed into various forms, such as microspheres, fibers or films.

Skin adhesives are substances that are used to close wounds or incisions on the skin without using stitches or staples. Skin adhesives can reduce bleeding, pain and infection risk, as well as improve cosmetic outcomes. Skin adhesives can also be used to attach dressings or devices to the skin.

POLYMER VS SERIES for SKIN ADHESIVES

POLYMER VS SERIES silicones can be used as skin adhesives, as they have excellent adhesion properties. They have good flexibility and elasticity that allow them to conform to the shape of the wound or device, as well as low toxicity and irritation potential that minimize adverse reactions.
