The first Electronic Customer Day held by Evonik Industries in Shanghai and Taipei drew enthusiastic responses. A large number of participants received a detailed overview of the large variety of products, specially the processing specifics, and many different ways that VESTAKEEP® PEEK and VESTAMID® HTplus high-temperature polymers can be used. Among the guests were representatives from high-profile industry leaders in the electronics, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and other plastics-processing industries.
Participants first acquainted themselves with VESTAKEEP® PEEK polymers—a family of products that has since established itself in all market segments and one that stands above and beyond in terms of performance in comparison with other PEEK polymers available on the market. In fact, Evonik’s new VESTAKEEP® 5000 G offers some exceptional product properties. Take VESTAKEEP® spindle nuts, for example, which are used for the electric adjustment of steering columns. They are an absolutely unbreakable choice - in contrast to other PEEK products currently available for this application. And VESTAMID® HTplus, a polyphthalamide (PPA), has attracted a tremendous amount of attention as a possible substitute for metal. Both these products also offer ideal solutions for LEDs, produced mainly in Asia.
Processing operations for high-temperature polymers were also exhibited at the Customer Day; Evonik demonstrated everything from extrusion and injection-molding processes to hot-compression molding and powder-processing techniques. Participants in Shanghai also had the opportunity to tour state of the art technical center, where Evonik provides prompt and expert local support to its customers. Evonik’s technical center has an added value for OEM´s and first tier suppliers companies in many different ways —through potential cost-reduction, for example, performance improvement, or innovative product solutions.
”The Customer Day is an excellent platform, not only to meet new market participants and specialists,” was the customers’ unanimous view. Evonik’s international High Temperature Polymers team has worked in this market for more than ten years now. Given the huge success of the Customer Day, it is already planning further events of this kind.
Dirk Heinrich, Global Director Business Management VESTAKEEP® PEEK Polymere, added that, “We’re continuing to respond to constantly expanding market requirements. The PPA and PEEK polymers in our range make it possible for our customers to lower costs—for example, by offering system solutions that require less maintenance.”
